- Comment: I bought this cookbook years ago and have made 100's of the recipes and they have all come out perfectly. The hints and tips they give with most of them can be used to make old family favorites perfect recipes as well. I love this book so much I give it as a present for every house warming and wedding I go to, and always receive numerous thanks for years after the party :-) A definite must have for all of us who really don't know our way around the kitchen that well :-)

- Comment: This, along with the rest of the America's Test Kitchen and Cook's Illustrated books, provides excellent recipes and detailed instructions. It has excellent photos and simplifies the cooking process for any cook (no matter how "awful" you think you are). I have learned many of my techniques and amazing tips and tricks from this book. It covers the basics, like the amazing buttermilk pancake recipe, and covers more complicated recipes as well. If for some reason I was only allowed to own one cookbook, this would be it. Check out the Family Baking Book, too. They both have amazing recipes you won't find in any of the other ATK books or even the online membership. Well worth the money. Product and equipment reviews are also wonderful. ATK has never let me down.

- Comment: My husband brought this cookbook to our marriage, and we use it more than any other cookbook in our extensive collection. I've always been reliant on Joy of Cooking. But ATK is easy to follow, and we have never had a failure with it. We've made many of the recipes, including Chicken Marsala, Skillet-Braised Green Beans, Glazed Carrots, Cucumber Soup, Bread Pudding, Rice Pudding, Fruit Cobblers...the list goes on and on. No matter which recipe, we are always pleased with the results.
I also like the product recommendations and the photographs. This book is a great reference.
Although we keep Joy of Cooking on hand for somewhat more obscure recipes, this is our go-to book for just about everything. - Customer Rating:
